At Woodland Joint Unified School District, K-2 students wrote stories from their own lives, 3-4th graders studied mentor text as they crafted persuasive letters for authentic purposes and - in some 5th grade classrooms - students explored informational essay writing while others – along with 6th graders - found the poetry in their prose and turned them into poems.
