A.L.L. had a 2017 kick off with Atlanta Public Schools. Susan Radley Brown welcomed participants to a day facilitated by consultants, Emily Levine and Andy Hess - January 26, 2017.
Their goals were to deepen understanding of Guided Reading and the place and purpose of Guided Reading within a Balanced Literacy Framework.
In order to engage the participants, Andy and Emily used a variety of interactive protocols which got the teachers moving, thinking and recording their workshop experience. They showed teachers a videoclip about the Zone of Proximal Development to examine how to differentiate instruction to reach students.
Teachers shared their expertise with the focus of creating a more consistent vision from school to school of what implementation of Guided Reading looks like.
A very successful day all around!
