Institutes and workshops 2015

For the Houston Independent School District, A.L.L. ran HISD Writer’s Workshop – Training The Trainers, two 12-hour sessions for the purpose of the supporting the trainers in implementing Writer’s Workshop in K-5 classrooms. April 30 – May 2 and May 14 -16 plus one follow up day.

Beginning Writer’s Workshop Summer Institute 2015 in Houston June 8 - 11, 2015 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Each day, structured to include grade level content sessions, focused on the introduction to Writer’s Workshop Launching The Year, as well as an opportunity for participants to work on their own piece of writing.

Poetry Residency with A.L.L. Founder and Executive Director, Susan Radley Brown, assisted by consultant, Aysen Dogan. July 13 – July 24 in the Juvenile Court and Community Schools, San Diego, CA with teen students. The students delved deeply and wrote honestly about the experiences in their lives. On the last day, students published their work in a class anthology and celebrated their efforts and success!

CEI Buffalo Summer Institute run by consultant, Maria Losee July 15-17, 2015 for Elementary + High School educational community including teachers, coaches and administrators. Each day, structured to include content sessions, focused on the introduction to the teaching of writing, as well as an opportunity for participants to work on their own piece of writing and develop lessons aligned to the common core state standards.
