In these short video clips, Emily Levine conducts writing conferences with teachers participating in the CEI Institute as they work to create their own opinion letters based on their understanding of the CCLS and grade level Social Studies and Science expectations as presented in the NYC Scope and Sequence.
In addition to modeling the architecture of a writing conference, through these one-on-one interactions, Emily hopes to show the value of conversations in order to build writing communities and to place teachers in the role of a coach.
Emily believes these interactions can be transformative because of their power to deepen the academic relationship between teacher and student and to ignite student engagement.
